Samsat Square

This project is located in a central location of Şanlıurfa and Karakoyun River passes through the project site. Within the scope of the project, creating a city square where the are a is physically divided by the river and designing gathering-promenade spaces were the main aims. In that respect, we created an open space network including focal elements of the area such as Kurtuluş (Liberation) Museum, Millet Han, Justinian Aqueduct and Millet Bridge. Landscape dominant areas were designed next to Aqueduct and Millet Bridge and activity areas were mostly designed with hardscape elements where existing vegetation was fully preserved and developed further. The project is implemented except architectural proposals such as a public toilet and a café-restaurant and opened to service in 2014.
