We founded 8arti in 2006, while we started working together on urban design competitions in 1999.

We maintain a compact organisational scale and collaborate with experts from various disciplines to deliver comprehensive planning and urban design services to public and private clients.

We are specialised at placemaking, active travel and community engagement. We care about healthy environments, quality of space, and inclusive communities.

We support international companies and their IFI projects with our expertise in GCAPs (Green City Action Plans), SUMPs (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans), geospatial mapping and virtual reality engagements.

Sertaç Erten

Co-founder, Assoc.Prof.

Graduated from Middle East Technical University, Department of City Planning in 1998. Finished Msc. in Urban Design Program in 2000, and PhD in Department of City Planning in 2008. Worked as a research assistant and an academic staff for 6 years in the same university. Contributing several urban design and architectural competitions and having several awards.

Worked as the Planning Discipline Lead of Arup (Turkey) between 2019-2023. She established the Masterplanning and Urban Design team, which did not exist before. She became the Europe Region Town Planning and Policy Skill Leader of Arup-Europe.

Currently attending lectures and seminars at different universities of Istanbul.

Graduated from Middle East Technical University-Department of Architecture in 1998. Finished Msc. in Urban Design Program in 2001. Studied his PhD on “Urban Design Competitions and Urban Design Discipline in Turkey” in the same university, department of City and Regional Planning. Contributing several urban design and architectural competitions both as jury member and contestant. Copartner of 8arti.

Thought architecture at several universities and academies. Assistant Professor at İstanbul Kent University, Istanbul.

Devrim worked as the urban design consultant for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).
